Plastics Technology

The Right System Solution for Every Area

SIGMATEK has 35 years of experience in the automation of plastics processing. We offer the right system solution for all areas of plastics processing. From extrusion and blow molding to injection molding, you’ll always find the right hardware and software with us. Our industry expertise also encompasses downstream machines, handling tasks, finishing processes, and peripheral devices. This allows such processes to be controlled directly by the machine controller or synchronized with one another via real-time Ethernet standards such as VARAN.

Injection Molding Technology Meets Industry Expertise

SIGMATEK always provides you with the right hardware and software.

Injection Molding with Real-Time Ethernet

The high-speed VARAN real-time Ethernet bus enables precisely reproducible and highly accurate motion sequences.

Easy Extruder Programming

Extrusion technology requires specific hardware, such as a freely configurable temperature module (Type J, K, L, etc.), and ready-made software packages, e.g., for up to 7 freely selectable extruders, each with up to 16 heating zones.

Maximum Operating Comfort

... thanks to modern touchscreen technologies. Display sizes up to 24 inches in portrait orientation and mobile HMIs ensure that you always have a clear overview. Our new web panels feature smooth page loading.

Robot Integration

... ensures cycle-synchronized motion sequences and short production cycles—while reducing hardware costs, since a separate robot controller is no longer necessary.

Software Variants with a Button Push

Proven software technology modules form the basis for flexible configurations of plastic processing machines. The software for the various machine types can be automatically generated using scripting.

Complete Solution for Styrofoam

Hirsch's Styrofoam molding systems utilize the full range of SIGMATEK products: industrial PCs, I/Os, safety, HMI, servo drives, motors, and the all-in-one engineering tool LASAL

Plastic Extrusion

... on the assembly line: A complete system for punching, welding, riveting, and injection molding from MMS. Precise, fast control sequences are essential here.

Your Advantages

  • High-performance and modular complete automation system with long-term availability of the components
  • Customer-specific hard and software adaptation possible
  • Servo drive technology and Safety seamlessly integrated
  • Engineering comfort and reduced time-to-market cycles via object orientation and a broad selection of predefined software function modules
  • Support from our extensive engineering team with deep injection molding and extrusion know-how

Your Benefits

Industry-Specific Software

The LASAL engineering tool offers tested software and technology modules that form the basis for customizing the application software to meet specific customer needs. Technology modules include, among others, hydraulic controllers, self-optimizing temperature controllers, online data loggers, SPC, BDE, energy monitoring, and Euromap interfaces. Language selection, unit conversion, alarm logging, and password levels are just a few of the features offered by the LASAL automation software.

Application-Specific Hardware

Having the right hardware for every application is essential for implementing cost-effective solutions for every requirement in the plastics processing industry. In addition to standard hardware, SIGMATEK offers specialized modules for the plastics industry: from customized operator panels to process-optimized I/O modules—such as those for temperature measurement with signal preprocessing—modules for connecting potentiometers and ultrasonic displacement measurement systems, or modules for energy measurement.

Our industry experts select the optimal hardware components for your specific application and customize them to your needs, ensuring you receive a tailor-made and cost-effective complete solution—whether for:

  • Hydraulic, hybrid, or all-electric injection molding machines (vertical and horizontal)
  • Blow molding machines
  • Single- and twin-screw extruders or
  • Complex multi-component systems

Handling devices and robots can be fully integrated into the control platform. This increases productivity, since, for example, ejectors and robots move in precise synchronization with one another.

Single- and multi-CPU solutions are possible and can be connected to each other in a clock-synchronized manner via fieldbus standards such as VARAN. This makes a decentralized system architecture simple and flexible.
